Get It Every Month

Hullinprint is getting ready to tell it by the dozen. From May, your favourite local magazine will be bringing you the stories that count 12 times a year.

That means even more news, events and important council information, as well as features focusing on the culture, characters and communities, who make living and working in Hull unique. Monthly Hull in print will also be your definitive guide to all City Council job vacancies.

Explaining the decision to go monthly, the City Council's head of image and promotion Peter Allen said: "Hull in print is one of the main means the council has for speaking to its customers. We can do that much more reliably if the magazine comes out 12 times a year instead of six.

"It will allow us, for example, to publish a much more comprehensive events diary and will be the ideal vehicle for advertising council jobs. "But the most important advantage is that it will allow us to explain council services, some of which currently have a certain mystique attached to them."

Hull in print was launched as a bimonthly magazine in June 2000, with the aim of reflecting the diversity of life in the city as well as promoting the council's services.

Our approach of mixing informative and interesting writing with eye-catching design has won praise locally, nationally and internationally. "There has been an excellent reaction to the magazine to date both from residents and on a national level," said Mr Allen. "We are told that it is certainly among the top 10 council publications in the country.

"The number of people reading Hull in print on the internet is increasing every month and the magazine is well received by hundreds of Hullensians living overseas. "Having said that, we want to continue to improve and would welcome feedback from our readers in this. Tell us what you want to see.

"We will be the first to admit that there have been some problems with distribution, an issue we are working hard to address." He said that by going monthly certain economies of scale would be possible although this wasn't the main motivation behind the move. "It's about Best Value," he said. "That doesn't just mean saving money but finding the best way of doing things to enhance quality."
