Chance to dig in
Hull is to get more trees - and you can help to plant them. Over the next three years, planting is planned for 15 sites, and a call for local people to help will be made later this year when plans have been completed. Schools will also be involved and it will be an opportunity to increase understanding and appreciation of trees and woodland. The Woodland Trust, the UK's leading woodland conservation charity, and Hull City Council are leading the project, which has attracted funds from various sources including the Big Lottery Fund. Schemes for small woodland areas in parks and open spaces throughout the city have been prepared for the following playing fields: Alderman Kneeshaw, Barbara Robson, Bellfield Avenue, Bricknell, Bude, Costello, Ennerdale, Howdale Road, King George V, Longhill, Noddle Hill, Oak Road and Stonebridge. Wymersley Road Park and Bransholme Country Park are the other venues. Your views on the proposals are welcomed and you should make them before September 10.
