Europe's best play

Hull Music lovers will pay fewer notes to hear notes played by a host of top orchestras if they take advantage of one of the new subscription packages introduced for the forthcoming International Masters Series in Hull City Hall.

The season begins on Monday, October 11, with the first visit to Hull by a leading orchestra from Austria, the Vienna Tonkunstler Symphony Orchestra. Their new music director, Kristjan Jarvi, son of world famous Estonian conductor Neeme Jarvi, will conduct soloist Lidia Baich in a performance of Bruch's popular Violin Concerto No.1. The St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the Halle, the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra and Russian State Symphony Orchestra are also in the line-up for the 2004-2005 season. And for the first time two of the UK's best chamber orchestras, the London Mozart Players (LMP) and the Manchester Camerata, will be featured.

Hull audiences will be able to witness for themselves the exciting new collaboration between the LMP and Emma Johnson, clarinet soloist and conductor. Their concert on Saturday, November 6, includes Mozart's Clarinet Concerto. Attractive discounts are available in the flexible new subscription deals. A full series subscription giving personal seats at all eight concerts saves 20 per cent. In addition, a six concert subscription package saves 12 per cent and a four concert, 7.5 per cent.
