Making the headlines

Clifton Primary School have been making the headlines. On one day at the end of June, pupils interviewed and photographed everyone who visited the school for their newspaper, Clifton is the Word.

The showcase day was the culmination of a six-month arts project, entitled 'Once Upon A Time'. Together with Creative Partnerships Hull, pupils worked alongside storyteller Teri West and journalist and photographer Lee Karen Stow in activities ranging from storytelling and journalism to puppetry and filmmaking.

Janet Adamson, head teacher at Clifton Primary School said: "By developing the children's oral skills I believe we can influence the quality of their writing and give them the confidence to let their voices be heard. The school worked together in every aspect of the showcase presentation." Each pupil will be given a DVD film as a memento of the day's activities.
