Up for the cup; Sam Williamson (Right) receives a trophy from the First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy

Dear Hull in print,

At the age of ten my son Sam joined the Hull Sea Cadet unit in Argyle Street, and for the next nine years the cadet staff and the cadets themselves became our extended family and friends.
After attending Trinity House School and Wyke Sixth Form College, Sam has now made a start in his chosen career by joining the Royal Navy.
Sam has recently finished his training at HMS Raleigh where he was awarded the Owen Cup for the best overall trainee and the Commodore's Prize for the highest examination results. These were presented to him by the First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy which is an honour in itself. Sam is now hoping to take his place on board HMS Somerset.
As his proud mum I would like to thank the Hull Sea Cadet staff, both past and present, as well as cadets and friends, for helping Sam achieve his chosen career.
The staff give their time free and although the cadets are not a feeder organisation into the Royal Navy, they provide naval training and skills to a high standard.

Mrs Pearl Williamson,
Westbourne Avenue
Hull

Hull's new transport interchange opens in the Autumn

Dear Hull in print,

I am on your mailing list and always look forward to receiving each month's edition. I was particularly pleased to read that the new travel interchange is due to open in September because I am a frequent visitor to Hull via National Express coach services.
I grew up in Withernsea and still have elderly relatives in Hull, so for many years I have been using the old bus station, whose condition always appalled me.
After work on the new travel interchange began, National Express passengers were dropped off on Ferensway behind Debenhams, and later, when Ferensway was closed and up to the present, at the YPI on George Street.
Neither location had any shelter, and it's a long walk to buses and taxis from the YPI.
So I really look forward to much better facilities than ever before at the new travel interchange.

Mrs Janice Jones
Wareham,
Dorset.
