Christmas in other countries

Christmas is celebrated in many different ways around the world. The Hull in print news crew has been finding out how.

In Brazil, it doesn't snow because it's summer in December. Christmas dinner includes turkey, ham, coloured rice and vegetables.

In Australia, it's also summer. It's very hot, with temperatures of more than 30 degrees. At many beaches, Santa Claus arrives on a surf-board or a speedboat.

In China - Santa Claus is called Dun Che Lao Ren, which means Christmas Old Man. Trees are decorated with paper flowers.

In Sweden - Christmas lasts about a month. On each of the four Sundays before Christmas, a candle is lit on the Advent wreath, which is made from a stick decorated with white lichen and berries.

In America - Christmas is celebrated in a similar way to us. Children are told that Santa will come down the chimney, bringing presents and candles.
