Top marks: Gerard O'Toole (centre) receives his prize from Mark Somers, breakfast show presenter from Viking FM, and Sidonie Myers from Smith and Nephew

More than 20 years of dedication and professionalism have made Gerard O'Toole the 'Teacher of the Year.'
Mr O'Toole, a humanities teacher at David Lister School, was named the overall winner of the Hull Teacher of the Year Awards 2007, in a presentation at the KC Stadium.
The awards, organised by 96.9 Viking FM and sponsored by Smith and Nephew, celebrate the great work being undertaken by teachers in the city's schools.
"Mr O'Toole is able to make lessons enjoyable and gets his students to want to learn," said David Lister head teacher Tricia Hemming.
"He also gives them confidence to aim high and achieve good results."
Mr O'Toole was nominated for the award by his pupils, and wins a digital camera for his school.
