National elf service
 |
Elves will take over the city centre on 12 December when Hull becomes home to the first-ever National Elf Day.
Elves will be helping shoppers with gift ideas, giving directions, giving balloons and stickers, as well as dancing and singing.
And hundreds of retail staff in the main shopping centres will wear elf hats on the day.
Meanwhile, until 23 December, shoppers can ride on the Elf Express, an open top bus ferrying people across the city centre.
And Santa will be in his grotto near the fountain in Queen's Gardens every day from 11am - 4pm (from noon - 8pm on Thursdays).
Also near the fountain, and in King Edward Street, shoppers will find stalls making up the German Christmas Market (pictured right with the elves).
It will be running throughout the festive season, with more than 40 wooden chalets selling wares including crafts, food and hot-spiced wine.
Finally, don't miss Santa's World upstairs in the Prospect Centre, or the inflatable snow globe at Princes Quay shopping centre.
All the city centre Christmas events are being put on through a partnership between Hull BID, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire and Hull Forward.
