The City Council is joining forces with the Valuation Office in a bid to improve the administration and collection of council tax and business rates.
The two organisations are to carry out a detailed review of their procedures in a joint improvement project - the first of its kind in the UK.
Local residents and businesses will be consulted in the review, which forms part of the City Council's best value strategy and is focused on meeting customers' needs. Group Director of Hull City Services Martin Mancey said: "This project is an excellent example of how organisations can work together to secure best value services. It is an important part of our commitment to making the administration of rates and council tax more responsive and integrated." The Valuation Office is part of the Inland Revenue and is responsible for providing council tax and business rate lists, from which local authorities collect their taxes. |
