The City Council is asking the people of Hull to give their views on the future organisation of local government in the city. The December 2000 issue of Hull in print gave full details of the three options that the City Council is putting forward under the Local Government Act 2000.
Option A is a Cabinet system. Similar to exisiting arrangements, it is the Council's preferred option, offering speedier decision making, more accountability and a better response to local problems. Options B and C both involve directly elected mayors. The City Council must adopt one option by June 2002. |
