Do it online
An average of 16,000 people a week are using Hull City Council's website.
From tips on tracing your family tree, to finding out how hygienic your local take-away is, to finding out what road closures are in place, the website provides a wide variety of information.
And more people are being urged to make use of it.
The latest service to be added allows potential council tenants to search for properties online (see also page 33).
Existing tenants can also now request non-emergency repairs via the website.
"It's a quick and convenient way of accessing services and information 24 hours a day, seven days a week," says Cllr Abi Bell, responsible for customer services at the council.
"I'm sure many people will be amazed at the wide variety of information and services."
Among other services on the website, you can renew and search for library books, report vandalism, pot holes or faulty streetlights, pay council tax or business rates, and view thousands of images of artefacts in Hull museums and galleries.
You can also give feedback about council services and apply to join Hull People's Panel to influence and have your say on council services and initiatives.
