Lord Mayor of Hull, Cllr Elaine Garland uses the new bag

Shoppers go green

More than 5,000 hessian shopping bags have been given to shoppers at Hull's Trinity Market in an effort to protect the environment.
The bags, produced by Hull City Council in partnership with Hull Business Improvement District (BID), are a greener alternative to plastic bags.
"Protecting the environment is at the forefront of people's minds more than ever before," said Cllr Kalvin Neal, who is responsible for quality of life.
"We hope these bags will help to reduce the number of plastic bags going to landfill and encourage people to rediscover Trinity Market."
Hull BID is a not-for-profit partnership led by local businesses.
