Former Blue Peter presenter Tim Vincent will present the first ever Spotlight Awards for children and young people in Hull who have achieved great things
And now is the time to make your nominations! Use the application form opposite to tell us who, when, what, how, and why you think the people you nominate are special enough to receive an award.
The awards, which also recognise the efforts of adults who work with children and young people, will be presented in a ceremony at the KC stadium on March 13. They will include the following categories:
Sportsperson of the Year Award
For a child or young person who has succeeded in sport.
Healthy Lifestyle Award
For an individual or team, whether children and young people or adults, which has made a real impact in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Outstanding Contribution to the Arts Award
For a child or young person's creative flair and how they have used their talent to impact on local culture.
Outstanding Contribution Award
For an adult or team of adults who have made a difference to the life of a young person or group of young people, and demonstrated new and innovative ways of working.
Foster Carer of the Year Award
Foster carers provide loving and stable homes to around 400 children and young people in Hull. This award will recognise their outstanding commitment and dedication.
Positive Contribution Award
For a child or young person who has gone the extra mile to fight for something they believe in.
Play Ambassador Award
This award will celebrate some of the fantastic work that individual adults and organisations are doing in Hull, putting children and young people's play needs at the heart of their work.
Friendly Business Award
For a business or organisation that sets the highest possible standards when it comes to putting children and young people first.
Hull's Person of Courage Award
For a child or young person who has performed an act of extraordinary courage or bravery, endured pain or suffering as a result of disability or illness, or devoted time to selflessly caring for members of their family.
Childcarer of the Year Award
For the outstanding contribution made by an adult to the care, education and well being of Hull children (outside of school hours).
Entrepreneur of the Year Award
Open to 14 – 24 year olds, this award will go to the young person who has demonstrated the most entrepreneurial skills or outlook.
Achiever of the Year Award
This award will be split into three age ranges: primary, secondary and post 16. It will recognise the effort and progress each young person has made in achieving their full potential, for example, improved attendance, attainment or behaviour at school.
