Why do we celebrate Pancake Day?
On 16th February we will all be eating lots of pancakes to celebrate Shrove Tuesday! Pancake Day (also known as Shrove Tuesday) is the last day before the period which Christians call Lent. It is traditional on this day to eat pancakes.
Lent is a time of giving things up, so Shrove Tuesday is the last chance to indulge yourself and use up the foods not allowed in Lent. We will be trying give up chocolate and using the computer to play games...will we succeed? What will you give up for Lent?
