Urgent action for evacuees

Hull residents forced to vacate their homes because of flooding will be given priority for re-housing.
To ensure there is enough accommodation, a centralised emergency flood allocations team has been set up to help evacuees. This means the HomeSearch lettings system for vacant council homes is temporarily suspended.
All vacant council homes will be made available to flood victims in urgent need.
“We understand this is a very difficult and upsetting time for many people,” says John Hocking, the director of Hull Housing.
“The decision to suspend HomeSearch may affect residents waiting for houses, but we hope they will understand why this action had to be taken.”
All three contractors appointed by the council to maintain council homes - Kier Building Maintenance, Connaught and Kingstown Works Ltd - are providing housing maintenance around the clock.
