Platform to success

All singing, all dancing: Cindy (left) and Lynsey, of the Platform to Success Crew

They write their own plays and songs – and they choreograph their own dance routines.
And they've performed at conferences all over the country.

But what makes this group of people really special is that many of them have lived with special circumstances in their lives – such as having a disability, being in care or being bullied.
They are the one and only 'Platform to Success Crew!' (or P2S crew for short).
"The drama and games help us all get on together and get to know each other and work as a team," say P2S members Cindy and Lynsey.
"Last month, we performed to a lawyers' conference in Leeds. There were over 200 people and they gave us a standing ovation at the end. That really gives you a great buzz!
"When we ask the young people what they get out of the P2S Project, they always say it has helped build their confidence and that they have made new friends."
The P2S crew is supported by staff from RAPP (Rights and Participation Project), the Northern Academy of Performing Arts and the Community Anti-Bullying Project.

My life and me

Adam Barley (13) writes about his hobbies and interests

Twice a week I do kayaking at the Astra Youth Club, Bransholme. There are different levels, called 'stars', and I'm on my second star (working towards my third). I also do other activities at the club, including first aid, Lord Mayor's Award, weight training and pool. The club also arranges things like cooking, arts and crafts, day trips and residential visits.
I am also a member of the local youth forum, where we voice our opinions and ideas for young people by getting together and chatting every other Thursday. The forum is also present at the Young People's Parliament, which takes place at the Guildhall.
On a weekend I am getting some experience to become a referee for the Hull Sunday Boys' League Football Association. The HSBLFA runs courses to become a referee when you are 14, which I hope to be able to do shortly.
Aside from the above, I'm a proud season-ticket holder at Hull City, where I go with my family and friends.
