A £220m project called “Building Schools for the Future” (or “BSF” for short ) will transform all of Hull’s secondary and special schools in order to provide the very best opportunities for pupils.

Pickering High School
Current provision:
1100 places for pupils aged 11-16
Proposed campus provision:
To become a Sports Academy and to remain on its current site with provision for 1400 pupils aged 11-16 years (100-200 places for pupils aged 16-19 staying on/ supported into post-16 learning). This will be a new build/ major remodel due to take place between March 2010 and August 2011, with a planned completion by September 2011.
The sponsor is Hull College.

Ganton School
Current provision:
125 places for pupils with severe learning difficulties aged 3-19 years.
Proposed campus provision:
To relocate to the Pickering site with capacity for 128 pupils with severe learning difficulties aged 2-19 years to serve the west of the city. This will be a new build due to take place between July 2010 and August 2011 with a planned completion by September 2011.

Centre for Hearing and Visual Impairment
Current provision:
Based at a number of schools around the city.
Proposed campus provision:
Capacity for 40 pupils with hearing and visual impairment aged 11-18 years to be located on the Pickering site (co-located with Pickering Academy) serving the city. This will be part of a new build due to take place between July 2010 and August 2011 with a planned completion by September 2011.

Kelvin Hall School
Current provision:
950 places for pupils aged 11-16 years.
Proposed campus provision:
School to remain on its current site and extend onto the William Gee site with provision for 1350-1500 pupils aged 11-16 years dependent upon site availability. This is likely be a new build and/or remodel due to take place between January 2011 and July 2012. With a planned completion by September 2012.
It is proposed to retain buildings on the existing site and use the former William Gee sites for playing field provision.

Sir Henry Cooper School
Current provision:
1082 places for pupils aged 11-16
Proposed campus provision:
Option 1: An academy to be located on the Princess Elizabeth Playing Fields with provision for 1200 pupils aged 11-16. This will be a new build due to take place between January 2011 and July 2012.
Option 2: An academy as above but remain on its existing site.
The sponsor of the academy is
to be confirmed.
This will be a remodel / new build with a planned completion by September 2012.

Kingswood College of Arts
Current provision:
1200 places for pupils aged 11-16
Proposed campus provision:
School to remain on its current site with provision for 1300 pupils aged 11-16 years. This is likely to be a new build and/ or remodel due to take place between November 2011 and May 2013 with a planned completion by September 2013.

Current provision:
1650 places for pupils aged 11-16.

Tweendykes School
Current Provision:
83 places for pupils aged 3-16 with severe learning difficulties.

School to relocate to the Winifred Holtby site with capacity for 90 pupils with severe learning difficulties aged 2-19 years to serve east of the city. This will be a new build due to take place between August 2011 and July 2012 with a planned completion by September 2012.

Current Provision:

Current Provision:
891 places for pupils aged 11-16. This is a Church of England voluntary controlled secondary school
Proposed campus provision:
Option 1: School to become an academy (Health and Enterprise) and be relocated to Preston Road for 1300 pupils aged 11-16 years (100-200 places for pupils aged 16-19 staying on/ supported into post-16 learning). This will be a new build due to take place between March 2010 and August 2011. Option 2: As above - but school to remain on its existing site. The sponsor of the academy is The Church of England through the Diocese of York. Planned completion by September 2011.

Andrew Marvell College
Current Provision:
1200 places for pupils aged 11-16.
Proposed campus provision:
School to remain on its current site with provision for 1300 pupils aged 11-16 years. This will be a new build/remodel due to take place between November 2011 and May 2013 with a planned completion by September 2013.

Endeavour High School
Current Provision:
1200 places for pupils aged 11-16.
Proposed campus provision:
Endeavour to remain on its existing site with provision for 1050 pupils aged 11-16 years. The school will be retained, with ICT investment, to ensure modernisation and city-wide links. The work will take place prior to September 2013.

Newland School for Girls
Current Provision:
890 places with a city-wide catchment for girls aged 11-16.
Proposed campus provision:
School will remain on its current site with provision for 750 girls aged 11-16 years with a city-wide catchment area. This will be a remodel due to take place between July 2012 and July 2013 with a planned completion by September 2013.

St Mary’s College
Current Provision:
1476 places for pupils aged 11-19 (includes a 276 place sixth form). This is a Roman Catholic voluntary-aided school with a city-wide catchment.
Proposed campus provision:
School will remain on its current site with provision for 1200 pupils aged 11-19 years (plus a 350-place sixth form) with a city-wide catchment area. This will be a remodel due to take place between July 2012 and July 2013 with a planned completion by September 2013.

Hull Trinity House School
Current Provision:
280 places for boys aged 11-16.
A voluntary-aided school.
Proposed campus provision:
School to remain on its current site with provision for 600 boys aged 11-16 years with a city-wide catchment area. This will be a remodel due to take place between July 2012 and July 2013 with a planned completion by September 2013.

Bridgeview School
Current Provision:
88 places for pupils aged 7-16 years with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. The school is a residential establishment and contains accommodation for staff and 54 pupils.
Proposed campus provision:
School to remain on its current site with capacity for 88 pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties aged 5-19 years, with residential facilities for 54 pupils. The school may be federated with Teskey King. This will be a remodel due to take place between June 2011 and July 2012 with a planned completion by September 2012, and will serve the west of the city as well being a regional resource.

Frederick Holmes School
Current provision:
93 places for pupils aged 3-19 years with physical disabilities and profound and multiple learning disabilities.
Proposed campus provision:
School to remain on its current site and extend onto the current Teskey King site (the current Teskey King site will be moved to allow this) with capacity for 85 pupils aged 2-19 years with complex physical difficulties. It will serve the city and region. This will be a remodel due to take place between July 2012 and July 2013 with a planned opening in September 2013.

Schoolgirl Mums Unit
Current provision:
A Pupil Referral Unit currently with 32 pupils (at May 2007) which provides support and education to schoolgirls who are pregnant or are young mothers.
Proposed campus provision:
PRU to remain on its current site with capacity for 23 pupils from across the city aged 11-19 who do not return to mainstream school during or after pregnancy. This will be a refurbishment due to take place between July 2013 and July 2014 with a planned completion by September 2014.

Children with Medical Needs Unit
Current provision:
20 places for children with severe medical needs.
Proposed campus provision:
The unit to retain its existing capacity for 20 pupils across a mixed age range. The improvements to this unit will be ICT only and are to due to take place between August 2013 and August 2014.

Fountain House
Current provision:
A 30-place Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for Key Stage 4 pupils who have been excluded from mainstream schools and need futher intervention and support.
Proposed campus provision:
PRU to remain on its current site with capacity for 30 pupils aged 11-16 to serve the west of the city. This will be a remodel due to take place between July 2013 and July 2014 with a planned completion by September 2014.

Ashwell
Current provision:
A 40-place Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) with provision for Key Stage 3 pupils who have been excluded from mainstream schools.
Proposed campus provision:
PRU is likely to move to the Dales Primary School site (in summer 2007) because the current accommodation is inadequate. The unit will have capacity for 40 pupils aged 11-16 and will serve the east of the city. and will be remodelled between August 2013 and August 2014 with a planned completion by September 2014.

Northcott School
Current provision:
Caters for 90 pupils aged 5-16 in its protective environment. Also has 18 places in the autistic provision for pupils aged 3-16 years.
Proposed campus provision:
School to remain on its current site and become a specialist school for pupils with needs on the autistic spectrum. It will cater for 70 pupils aged 2-19 years with the capacity for an extended curriculum and services for 42 pupils and their families (including residential provision) and will serve the city and region. This will be a remodel due to take place between July 2013 and July 2014 with a planned completion by September 2014.

Teskey King School
Current provision:
A 60-place school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties. It is to be re-designated in September 2007 as a school for behavioural, emotional and social difficulties for up to 60 pupils aged 5-16 years.
Proposed campus provision:
School to relocate to the current and then vacant Archbishop Thurstan site or the current Isaac Newton site with capacity for 60 pupils aged 5-19 years with BESD. The school may be federated with Bridgeview School and will serve the east of the city. This will be remodelled between August 2011 and July 2012 with a planned completion by September 2012.

Learning Support Units
Proposed campus provision:
Temporary provision for those pupils who may require additional support to be located in secondary schools. With capacity for up to 20 places per unit for pupils aged 11-16 years.
