Dances
Tea dances are held every month in the Guildhall in aid of the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal Fund.

Dangerous structures
The council is responsible for protecting the public from dangerous structures and buildings. Court proceedings can be taken against their owners to ensure public safety.

Data protection
The Data Protection Act gives guidance on how organisations should handle personal information and gives the public the right to request a copy of information held about them.

Dead animal collections
The council collects dead animals found on public land and scans them for microchips to trace and inform the owner.

Deaths
All deaths in Hull are registered at Hull Register Office which also issues death certificates and makes referrals to the Probate Office.

Direct payments
These payments are available to people receiving help from social services. After having a care assessment from a social worker, they can receive direct payments to allow them to take control of their lives by employing their own carers.

Disabilities
Social services provide help for disabled people with learning difficulties or who have physical or mental health problems. This help includes providing supported accommodation and respite care.

Domestic violence
The council provides support to victims of domestic violence and their children, including help with re-housing.

Drainage
The council investigates and clears blocked drains.

Drugs misuse
This service is a partnership service with Hull and East Riding Community Health providing support and rehabilitation for drug users. Referrals are made through a doctor or health professional.
