Are we nearly there yet?

Lots of people go away for the summer but we get bored sometimes when we’re travelling, so we, the Northcott News Crew, have thought of a few games that you might like to play.

Alphabet signs

Each person on their own tries to find every letter of the alphabet, in the correct order that are written on signs, billboards, car number plates etc. If more than one person is looking for the same letter, the first one to spot it and shout it out loud gets that letter.

The car alphabet

Take the three letters on a car’s number plate and make up a sentence/phrase or name that these letters could stand for, e.g. M238AMD becomes ‘Mandy Ate My Dad’

Alphabet carry on

Each person in turn has to carry on the alphabet from a chosen topic e.g boys name could go like this 1st person says Adam, 2nd person says Bobby 3rd person says Charlie etc etc. Other topices could be girls names, food, pop groups, TV programmes. To make it harder try doing the alphabet backwards!

I went to the shops ...

First person starts off saying “I went to the shops to buy an apple,” next person says “I went to the shops to buy an apple and a biscuit,” next person “I went to the shops to buy an apple, a biscuit and a cream cake” etc…(have you noticed each item begins with the next letter of the alphabet?)
This could be changed to I went on holiday and I put in my suitcase … etc
If a person cannot think of anything beginning with the correct letter, or forgets the list of things, they are out the game.

Lorry spotting

This is best played on the motorway. Players get a point for every Eddie Stobbart lorry they spot with an extra point for getting the name which is written on the front of the cabin. 5 points are given for spotting a Prestons of Potto lorry. Who has nore points is the winner

The quiet game (parents like this one!)

You sit as quietly as possible for as long as you can. The last one to make a noise is the winner.

Slip, slap, slop

Whether you are on holiday or at home, we want to remind you to keep safe in the sun.. According to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) to stay safe in the sun you only have to remember 3 words - slip, slap, slop.
Slip – on a t.shirt
Slop - on the sun cream and
Slap - on a hat.
