Bringing history to life
A record number of children are learning about the past – thanks to an increase in take up for educational programmes at the city's museums.
The learning sessions attracted nearly 33,000 children to Hull's eight museums, an increase of 37 per cent from the previous year.
"We are delighted with the impact museums are having on the education of children," said Jon Pywell, head of education and lifelong learning at Hull Museum Education.
"Attracting children into our museums leads to better attainment in the classroom and repeat visits during the holidays when we see children back at museums with their families."
Workshops on slavery and global citizenship at Wilberforce House were attended by 7,300 children, and science and technology learning sessions at the Streetlife Museum proved popular.
