Hull's on show
From next month the city will be in the national and international spotlight more than ever before, when some of the world's best footballers come to play at the KC Stadium.

Hull will be on show not just to fans, and to the visiting directors and shareholders of Premiership clubs, but to hoards of reporters and journalists - not to mention the 1,000s of visitors attending the other major events in the city this summer.
The city will receive TV coverage every week when Hull City's exploits – both home and away - are shown on national TV on the likes of Match of the Day and Sky Sports.
And because of the enormous popularity of the Premiership, matches will also be broadcast on satellite channels as far afield as Europe and the Far East.
There couldn't have been a better time for our city to be on show - less than a year after the completion of the award-winning St Stephen's development, and the Paragon interchange.
And we've never had such wonderful excuses to all pull together and help keep our city clean and tidy.
Imagine inviting guests round to your home, you'd tidy up beforehand, wouldn't you?
Whether it's the little things like cleaning up after your dog, not throwing litter out of car windows, not feeding the pigeons in Queen Victoria Square, or not dropping chewing gum (which, incidentally, costs thousands of pounds each year to clean off the pavements) - we can all do our bit.
Perhaps it's about making the effort to report fly-tipping, vandalism and graffiti to the council.
There are many ways in which we can all help.
And of course, while you're making the effort, staff at Hull City Council will be doing their bit too, and pulling out all the stops to make this great city of ours even greater.
