Welcome back to Woodford
Woodford Leisure Centre officially opens on July 14 following extensive repairs and upgrade works to correct damage caused in last summer's floods.

The attractions at the new-look centre include:
- a fully refurbished fitness suite with new state-of-the-art equipment
- new leisure pool features including children's pirate ship, water canons and diving bell
- refurbished café with lounge area and healthy options menu
And there's plenty more surprises, including a new cycle storage area, a more accessible reception area, and new changing areas - as well as new floors, tiles, lights and lockers.
The fitness suite will include computerised personal training technology, individual entertainment systems, new air conditioning and 42-inch plasma screens.
"We've taken the opportunity to update our facilities in line with customer needs," says Cllr Kalvin Neal, who is responsible for culture, leisure and sport in the city.
"We would have liked to have opened sooner but the flood damage was extensive and the work has been carried out as quickly as possible without compromising the quality of the refurbishment.
"We also felt it was important to consult with user groups and members of the public." Meanwhile, more new facilities are set to be unveiled during a second phase set to take place later this summer.
They include a new martial arts area, a refurbished gymnastics pit, and an extension of the ground floor fitness suite to provide a new family training area with special equipment for children and young people.
