Cleaner, greener Hull

Hull City Council is changing the way it collects waste and recycling from homes across the city

#

Residents across Hull are set to receive a new and improved refuse and recycling collection service.
Between July and September, many people will be given a new black bin collection day.
The collections will remain on a weekly basis and letters will be sent in the post to all Hull residents who will be affected to explain the changes and when they will start.
Additionally, a sticker giving bank holiday refuse collection dates for the year – including Christmas and New Year – will also be sent to residents for them to keep.
“The changes are being introduced as a result of consultations we held with Hull residents – they asked for changes in the service they receive and we are responding,” says Cllr Dave Woods, who is responsible for the environment at Hull City Council
“The new arrangements will affect thousands of homes in Hull.
The aim is to improve the range and quality of service we provide and we will do everything we can to ensure the changes are introduced as smoothly as possible.”

Recycling changes

Meanwhile, changes to the recycling collection service will be introduced between September and December.
The new service will collect a wider range of material specifically asked for by residents, including garden waste, kitchen and food waste, cardboard, and a wider range of plastics.
The majority of recycling and refuse collections will be on the same day of the week.
“The new service will make it even easier for people to recycle waste, and I urge Hull residents to recycle more as this will ensure we can protect the environment for our children and grandchildren,” adds Cllr Woods.
Further information on the recycling changes will be sent to residents in the post and look out for updates in future editions of Hull in print.
