Stars in their eyes

The Marfleet Primary School news crew have been boldly going where no kids have gone before, and looking into space.
On 21st July it is 40 years since Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon.

In our Solar System, there are eight planets. There used to be nine but Pluto, which is the smallest of them all, had its status as a planet changed in 2006 and is now known as a dwarf planet. Pluto is smaller than the Earth’s moon.
The largest planet in our Solar System is Jupiter which is bigger than all the other planets put together.
It has 63 moons! It takes the Earth one year or 365 days to go around the Sun. It takes Jupiter 12 Earth years and Pluto 248 Earth years to do the same.

Stars in our eyes

We think all the people taking part in Operation Lifestyle are ‘stars’ too. Humberside Police run Operation Lifestyle which takes place during the summer holidays. It is a project to promote young people getting involved with their community. Good luck to all those who are taking part. National Play Day is on Wednesday 5th August in Queen’s Gardens (between 11am and 3pm). If you are a budding reporter and available on the day with an accompanying parent or carer, please get in touch with us at Hull Children’s Fund on 300300.

Winners

Megan Gerrard aged 11 is the winner and Emelia Delgardo aged 13 is the runner up for their posters about stopping smoking. They will receive their prizes shortly. Thanks to all who entered.
