Hull City Council has been short-listed for a number of national awards in recognition of the quality of service it provides for Hull residents.
Among the projects that have been recognised is the Enterprising Young People Campaign, which has helped 66 young people aged 16 -25 set up businesses.
The campaign has been nominated for a Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Award.
Meanwhile, the campaign’s lead officer, Charles Cracknell, recently received a Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion in recognition of his work to support young people’s business ambitions.
His contribution includes helping to establish an Enterprise Academy – with the backing of partners such as Hull City AFC and Hull FC – to enable 1,200 Year 9 and 10 pupils learn business skills and meet their sporting heroes who inspire them to achieve their education and career goals.
"It’s an honour to receive this award on behalf of the city's enterprising young people and all those at the council that support them,” Mr Cracknell said.
A website that provides advice, information and support to young people in Hull has also received an award.
Praised for extending access to and understanding of local services, www.cluedupinhull.com received a digital media Gold Award in the LG Communications Reputation Awards.
Other recent award nominations include the Humberside Young Witness Service, which has been short-listed in the Municipal Journal Awards for the support it gives to young witnesses and victims who give evidence in court.
And the council's planning department has been short-listed in the Municipal Journal Awards for its work to prepare local councillors to work with planners, architects and developers to ensure the best designs for large-scale building developments in Hull.
