Jazz it up

#

The "mouth" passage on the Jack Kaye Walk is well-known locally

A young people's group in west Hull is inviting new members to join. Hull in print learns of its latest project.

The Jack Kaye Walk (pictured) is a footpath and cycle way between Ella Street and Goddard Avenue in west Hull.
And it's about to get a makeover thanks to The Jazz Hands Wyke Youth Forum.
The young people's group is organising a community litter pick with the Community Wardens on Saturday June 16 between 10am and noon.
But that's not all, because bigger ideas are afoot for the area, including erecting more litter bins, tidying up graffiti, clamping down on fly-tipping and possibly holding a fun day to bring together the local community.
In developing these ideas Jazz Hands has consulted more than 50 local residents and worked with a wide number of groups including the council's Wyke Area Team, local councillors, Ella Street Residents' Association, Hull Community Wardens, Streetscene and Wyke Youth Network.

Meet the posse

#

Josh Salter (14): "We are a fun friendly group who hope to make things better."

#

Frances Mills (11): "It's a good place to be to discuss how to help the environment and because it's a small group your ideas get listened to more."

#

Holly Mills (13): "We are a mad bunch but we all are producing good ideas for our area."

#

Barney Burman (15): "I am also the newest member and would like to be as active as the rest of the group."

#

Molly Beaumont (11): "I like this group because it's fun while we learn. It gets me out of the house and I get to see more of my friends."
