Recycling made easy

Eastfield Primary pupils with 'Dalton,' the council's new recycling character, at Wiltshire Road recycling centre |
Britain's most modern, state-of-the-art waste recycling facility can be found right here in
west Hull.
The £1.5 million household waste and recycling centre in Wiltshire Road, Gipsyville, is powered by wind turbines and it has largely been built from recycled materials.
Hull residents can take a range of unwanted goods for recycling, including TVs, fridges, books, textiles and garden waste to the centre.
The Council hopes that this new facility and Hull's two other recycling centres in east Hull will help to double the city's recycling rate to 45 per cent by the year 2010.
"If that target cannot be reached the council will be forced to continue using landfill sites to dispose of waste, and will be fined by the Government because of the environmental damage caused," says Cllr Dave Woods, responsible for environmental issues.
"Everyone has a responsibility to recycle as much as we can to protect the planet for future generations."
