Have your say about £200m school plans
 |
Every Hull child will get the best opportunity |
Hull households will receive a consultation plan this month outlining proposals for the biggest ever project to transform the city's secondary and special schools.
The £200million project called 'Building Schools for the Future' (BSF), will transform learning in the city by rebuilding or remodelling all of Hull's secondary schools and special schools.
Proposals for individual schools, including plans for closure of some premises and expansion of others, will be outlined in the plan, which also contains a form for residents
to write feedback.
"The improvements will transform learning in the city to make sure every child gets the very best opportunity," says Judith Harwood, Head of Learning and Leisure at Hull City Council.
"It's not just about replacing old schools, the plan is to build new community focused Learning Centres in Hull."
See the proposals on the Council's website (www.hullcc.gov.uk) and at libraries, customer service centres and schools.
A similar consultation process under the BSF project took place in 2005; the Government decided that the project needed more time to review and improve the strategy and to involve more partners.
The BSF project is being co-ordinated by a new 'learning partnership' which includes head teachers, chairs of governors, schools achievement and standards advisers, college principals, staff from the Learning and Skills Council, and representatives from the local business partners.
It is hoped that proposals will be approved by next autumn and
that building work will begin in spring 2010.
The consultation plans are likely to be delivered from June 20 onwards. Feedback can also be given by email to bsf@hullcc.gov.uk or by texting 07950 080909.
