Views that matter

#

Older people have been consulted about how services for them could be improved.
Views on community safety, feeling safe and having more social contact were among those expressed at two consultation events, held at The Octagon Centre, on Walker Street, and at Buckingham Street Centre, off Holderness Road.
Other calls included more coffee mornings and friendship groups to be set up, for a reliable and up-to-date list of cleaners, decorators and gardeners to be published, and for an older people's helpline to be set up which doesn't put people on hold.
A total of 80 people aged between 55 and 90 attended the consultation events.
"Lots of very different ideas were expressed," said Cllr Stephen Baker, who is responsible for adult social care, health and equalities in the city.
"The findings are something my colleagues and I are very interested in and we will use them to help shape our policies for older people."
