Driving down charges

Hull City Council has slashed the cost of parking at its 11 car parks – in some cases by up to 25 per cent – making the city centre an even better place to visit for shopping and leisure.
Each of the 2,300 spaces available across Hull City Council car parks now costs £1.60 for up to two hours, £2.50 for up to three hours and £3.30 for up to four hours.
"All our car parks are centrally located and easily accessible for shops, museums and entertainment venues such as Hull New Theatre," said Cllr Dave Woods, portfolio holder for strategic transport issues.
Customers using all-day parks at Charlotte Street Mews, John Street, Francis Street, Waterhouse Lane, Pryme Street, Osborne Street and George Street can park for up to five hours for £4.10 and over five hours for £6.
The short stay car parks on Albion Street, Pryme Street, Waterhouse Lane and Lowgate also have a short stay period of £1 for any period of parking of less than one hour.
Car park tariffs for on-street parking are unchanged.
Income generated from car parking charges is invested directly into maintaining and improving Hull's parking facilities, including the upkeep of surfaces, ticket machines and staff costs
