Crazy about cadets

#

14-year-old Jordan Stovin (pictured far left) goes to Cadets and wants to encourage other young people to get involved because he enjoys it so much

"I've been coming to cadets – East Hull Band Detachment – for two years.
My mate encouraged me to come and now I love it.
I come to cadets because it provides me with activities, keeps me busy and helps with what I want to do in the future with regard to my career, because I want to be a police officer.
Cadets helps me get qualifications such as music and first aid (which will look good on my CV).
The fact that I go to cadets shows that I am disciplined and a really good worker.

Lift off

I started off as a recruit but now I am a L/CPL (lance corporal) with the hope of soon being promoted to CPL (corporal).
I am dedicated and I turn up every week without fail.
I love it that much, I wish my school was a military school.
The best thing about cadets for me is the events we do for the community such as the Remembrance Day parade.
We march and we play musical instruments.
Me and my friends at cadets love doing this as it tends to lift the spirits, not just of the public but also the great veterans who served our nation.

Learn skills and have fun

I think other young people who join would get increased confidence and would definitely learn new skills.
They could learn to play musical instruments and learn how to solve problems and generally keep active.
I also think other young people will enjoy learning how to be part of a team.
We do loads of fun things at cadets, so come along and find out."
