Red Nose Day – Friday 13th March
|
|
Red Nose Day is an event organised by Comic Relief every two years. Everyone is encouraged to put on a red nose and do something a little bit silly and raise money to help make a difference to the lives of people in the UK and across Africa.

Mother's Day is 22nd of March

Biscuits can be decorated by writing a name on them with icing sugar, or by adding silver balls, hundreds and thousands, small sweets or chocolate buttons using a little icing sugar too.
Biscuit sandwiches can be made by sticking two biscuits together with jam and then decorated on the top as well.
These can be made as Mother's Day gifts or sold to raise funds for Red Nose Day.

These are ideas that some people have about getting good luck or about stopping having bad luck.
Some people think you get bad luck if you:
- walk underneath a ladder
- break a mirror. If you do you get seven years bad luck
- spill salt. If you do, you must throw it over your left shoulder with your right hand to stop the bad luck
- open an umbrella indoors
- put new shoes on a table
- pass someone on the stairs
- wish someone 'good luck' before they go on stage in the theatre. Instead you should say 'break a leg'
- the number thirteen is also considered to be unlucky. Friday is also thought to be an unlucky day because Jesus was crucified on a Friday, so Friday 13th is supposed to be very unlucky
Some people believe you get good luck if:
- a black cat crosses your path, although in some traditions it is bad luck!
- you touch wood three times (when you're talking about bad luck)
- you find a four-leaf clover
- there is a horseshoe over the door. But the horseshoe needs to be the right way up. The luck runs out of the horseshoe if it is upside down
- you 'see a pin and pick it up and then all day you'll have good luck'
