Animal magic

National Pet Month took place from April 7 to May 7 so we thought we'd tell you a bit about our pets.
Among the Northcott news crew we have lots of pets. Altogether we have: 13 fish, 8 dogs, 2 rabbits, 1 hamster, 1 guinea pig, 1 tortoise and 1 bearded dragon (a type of lizard!). These are pictures of some of our pets.

Pet care

If you have a pet it's very important to look after it properly. All pets, big and small, need food and water, the right housing and bedding, and toys. If you have a dog or cat, these are the things they need to make sure they are healthy and happy:

  • A balanced diet.
  • A constant supply of fresh, clean water.
  • Not to be left alone for too long.
  • To be taken to the vets if they are poorly.
  • To be brushed regularly, especially if they have long hair.
  • A garden or safe place to play.
  • Somewhere warm and cosy to sleep.

Also, all dogs need to be taken for regular walks and cats need a scratching post.

If you want to find out more about looking after your pet, visit www.rspca.org.uk or www.pdsa.org.uk
