Value of Volunteering

#

Volunteer Week takes place between June 1 and 6 - and will recognize the contribution of more than 16,000 volunteers in the city who each volunteer for more than two hours per week.
The week is also a chance to encourage more people to become volunteers in anything from shop and office work to driving, gardening, caring and coaching.
The main event will be a volunteering fair at Hull City Hall on June 6 at which volunteering organizations from across the city will showcase their work.
"Whilst giving something to the community, becoming a volunteer can help people gain confidence, learn new skills and gain new friends," says Beth Swingler, voluntary and community sector manager at Hull City Council.
