Running in the family
 |

The first-ever exhibition of Hull artist Breda Wright promises to be a real family affair.
It features photographic portraits of seven female members of her family.
But there's an even stronger family connection - because her elder sister Christine, who is already an established artist in the Wirral, Merseyside, is coming to Hull to display her work in the same show.
"Having a joint exhibition with my elder sister is going to be great," says Breda (38), who is originally from Birkenhead, in Merseyside, but has been living in west Hull for the last eight years.
"My portraits are of me, my mum, my three nieces and my two sisters. That's all the blood females in the family - it's about the connection between us."
The exhibition also has an extra meaning, because elder sister Christine (45) has suffered from bone disease and spinal problems since she was a child, and her abstract work reflects some of her experiences in going through life.
The exhibition, called "Abstract Relations," runs at Hull's John Street Gallery, on John Street, near Hull New Theatre, between October 30 and November 24.
Breda would like to thank some of the local businesses who have supported her, including Trident UK, Gowens and Wright Investments, and Fotoworx. Both Breda and the John Street Gallery have also been supported by funding from Hull City Council.
Neighbours' Joe comes to town
Joe Mangle is coming to Hull.
Or should we say Mark Little, the Australian actor and stand-up comedian who played Joe Mangle in Neighbours, will be treading the boards at Hull New Theatre this month.
He is among the cast in a new play called The Safari Party, which runs from November 13-18.
Also on the bill will be former EastEnders actor Jack Ryder - who played Jamie Mitchell in the BBC soap.

The Safari Party is a comedy by Tim Firth, the writer of the hit film Calendar Girls.
In it, three households hold a 'safari party' - which is a dinner party where each course is served in a different house. The evening develops, with hilarious results.
Tickets range from £9 to £21, and are available from Hull New Theatre box office, at 75-76 Carr Lane. Tel 01482 226655.

Last Tango in Hull
 |
The Tiempo de Tango performance by Romance D'Carnaval, will take place on November 12 at Hull College's Horncastle Building. |
A feast of dance awaits at this month's annual Hull Dance Festival - Two Weekends.
The festival takes place over two weekends (hence the name) on November 10-12 and 17-19.
It will feature performances of world dance, as well as new commissions by local and regional dancers.
Highlights include Tiempo de Tango on Sunday 12 November at Hull College's Horncastle building.
This promises to be a powerful performance combining tango, theatre, video and music in a compelling story exploring the roots of tango.
Plus there will be a stunning Bollywood display (at the Ferens Art Gallery on Saturday 18 Nov) by the renowned Leeds-based Indian dancer Zoobin Surty.
Young dancers from Hull will also have the opportunity to shine at the Creative Voice Youth Dance Platform (Friday 17 November).
Samantha Sumerfield, arts development officer at Hull City Council and coordinator of the festival, said: "Once again we're bringing some top quality contemporary dance to the city. There is a great range of events, so there is bound to be something for everyone.
The Tango and Bollywood shows will be something special and we're also pleased we can once again support young talent with our popular youth dance platform."
