Start of Christmas
Hull's official start to the festive season starts on November 16 with the traditional Christmas lights switch-on in Queen Victoria Square.
Thousands of people are expected to join the family fun, which begins at 5pm and includes a gospel choir, brass band and performers from Hull's Northern Academy of Performing Arts.
The lights switch-on, at 6.45pm, will be carried out by the Lord Mayor of Hull Cllr Trevor Larsen, along with this year's Hull New Theatre panto stars The Chuckle Brothers - and will be followed by a fantastic firework display.
Meanwhile, the Hull City Council events team is inviting schools and community groups to book a slot to sing around the Christmas Tree in Queen Victoria Square in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
For more information about booking a slot, or about the lights switch-on, contact 300300.
