The coolest venue in Hull has come of age...
It's now 21 years since Hull Arena first opened its doors and with 221,814 paying customers last year and a host of top events planned over the next 12 months, a strong future beckons for the ice skating and entertainment centre.
"People of all ages have made the most of Hull Arena over the years and their support has helped us establish it as one of the leading ice rinks in the country," said assistant manager Steve Yorston.
"We've had some amazing events, from concerts by bands such as Oasis, Keane, the Killers and Faithless, to sports events including Speedway on Ice, the British Figure Skating and Ice Dance Championships, boxing and wrestling.
We've really shown how versatile this venue can be."
Built on the site of dock railway sidings off Kingston Street, the foundation stone for the venue was laid by Her Majesty the Queen on 17 July 1987 and the building was opened on 14 September 1988 by the late world and Olympic figure skating gold medallist John Curry OBE.
The arena also hosts children's birthday parties, learn to skate courses, foam parties, trade shows and exhibitions, and Hull Stingrays ice hockey games.
Tickets for the Spirit of Christmas ice show at Hull Arena on 11-13 December are now on sale.
