Recognition for top teacher

It's official! Hull's top teacher is Shaun Carvill, from Sir Henry Cooper School.
Mr Carvill, who teaches history, was recognised through Hull's Teacher of the Year Awards, which were presented at Hull City Hall.
The awards, which celebrate the tremendous work in Hull schools, attracted hundreds of entries from pupils and their families across the city.
Head teacher of Sir Henry Cooper, David White, said of Mr Carvill: "He knows every pupil and takes a genuine and keen interest in their lives.
"He is a true advocate and champion of his students, helping them believe they can be the best they can be."
As well as Overall Teacher of the Year 2009, Mr Carvill also won the award for Secondary School Teacher of the Year.
At the awards ceremony, a special Outstanding Achievement Award was given to the late Steve Corp, from Gillshill Primary School, who passed away earlier this year.
Mr Corp's family was at the awards to accept this on his behalf.
The awards were organised by Viking FM and Smith and Nephew in partnership with Hull City Council.
