The "Live Life Well" event, held at The Guildhall |
An event was held at The Guildhall to show Hull residents ways to improve their health and stay fit, happy and healthy.
The Live Life Well event brought together a range of stalls and displays showing services provided by Hull City Council, the NHS and other independent health-related projects at work in the city.
Visitors were able to gain information on minor conditions such as head lice, to serious illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
There was also advice on anything from caring for the elderly to dealing with bullies. Taking exercise by exploring Hull's parks and gardens was also recommended.
Fresh fruit, vegetables, snacks and healthy drinks were given out free of charge, along with tips on preparing and cooking healthy meals.
Cllr Stephen Baker, responsible for health, said: "Live Life Well showcased the excellent work local organisations are doing, in partnership, to improve health and well-being across the city."
Dr Wendy Richardson, Director of Public Health for Hull, said: "I'm delighted that Hull City Council is taking every opportunity to highlight the importance of health. There are benefits for us all in finding out about healthy life choices and putting what we learn into practice."
