Wish you were here – ten years from now
Write a postcard to the future and share your thoughts on the redevelopment of Hull city centre.
How would you like Hull city centre to look in a decade's time?
That's the question posed by a new consultation project to record the opinions of Hull residents regarding the redevelopment of their city.
The Resound Community Partnership - a not-for-profit arts organisation run by local artists - is inviting people to write a postcard to say how they would like six sites in the city centre to be rebuilt.
"This is a unique project about Hull and for Hull," says Bob Levene, one of the artists involved.
"The idea is to get the people thinking about what these places mean to them.
It's about gathering and recording the imaginings, hopes and fears that people have for the future of their city."
Resound has created a free postcard pack of the six sites which are the Fruit Market, St Stephen's, Albion Street, The Boom, Quay West and the Humber waterfront.
The sites have been selected because they are all undergoing major change and redevelopment.
You can pick up a postcard pack from any of Hull's libraries, galleries and museums, or from the Tourist Information Centre beneath Hull City Hall.
Postage is pre-paid so you do not need a stamp, the closing date for sending them back is December 31.
The postcards will be exhibited at St Stephen's next spring and later placed in Hull City Archives.
The project is sponsored by St Stephen's, Associated British Ports (ABP), regeneration agency Hull Citybuild and Arts Council England.
