Hull Fair and Halloween

There are lots of things happening this month! Here are just a few that we thought you might like to know about.

It was Children's Book Week from October 1st-7th,
so we thought we'd tell you what we love reading. Among our favourites are the Horrid Henry series by Francesca Simon, Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling, The Twits, Boy: Tales of Childhood and Danny Champion of the World all by Roald Dahl.

October 4th was National Poetry Day
so we thought we'd show you one of the News Crew (Lewis's) favourite poems called Mr Nobody.

I know a funny little man,
As quiet as a mouse,
Who does the mischief that is done
In everybody's house!
There's no one ever sees his face,
And yet we all agree
That every plate we break was cracked
By Mr. Nobody.

31st October - Halloween

This is always good fun. We like apple bobbing, making lanterns and dressing up as witches, mummies and vampires for parties.
Here's something you might like to make for your party - tea-cake spiders.
You will need chocolate tea-cakes for the body, liquorice laces for the legs, two small sweets for the eyes, and some icing or melted chocolate. All you have to do is cut the laces to the size you want and attach them to the tea-cake with the icing or melted chocolate. Stick the sweets to look like eyes onto the tea-cake with icing or chocolate. Eat and enjoy.
