Hull-based film-maker Ed McMahon (centre) and colleagues from Off World Films take a break during the filming of Dark Road, an award winning film from the last Glimmer festival

Film makers from Hull and across the world are invited to submit entries for the leading short film festival in the north of England.
Glimmer: the Hull International Short Film Festival is now receiving submissions ready for its opening next spring.
2010 will be the festival's eighth year, and the week-long event of film showings at venues across the city will include documentaries, dramas, animations, comedies, music videos and more.
Films submitted must be less than 45 minutes long and will give film makers the chance of winning a number of career-boosting Glimmer awards.
More than 200 films including 50 premieres were submitted from across the world at the last festival, and more than £2,000 of prize money awarded.
"The festival is a great opportunity for film makers and if you have a film please send it in," says Laurence Boyce, the director of the film festival.
"We look forward to receiving the newest and most exciting short films from all corners of the globe."

Glimmer runs from 19-25 April 2010 and films must be submitted by 5 February 2010.
