Scary fun

Some ideas for having fun at Halloween by this month's news crew, who are from the Ings Resource Centre After School Club. They are Ben, Charlotte, Chloe, Jade, Jared, Josh, Matthew, Morgan and Rhianna.

Skeletons, spiders, bats and cauldrons

We are all looking forward to having a Halloween party. Here are some of our ideas for party games:

  • Apple bobbing
  • Blind-folded food tasting games
  • Telling scary stories
  • Everyone is in a circle. In the centre is chocolate on a plate, a knife and fork, a witch's hat, nose and fingers. One person starts the game by throwing a die. If they get any number BUT 6, they pass to the next person. If a 6 is thrown they run to the middle, put on hat, nose and fingers and try to eat the chocolate using the knife and fork. They keep doing this until another person throws a 6 and that person takes over
  • Make a mummy – dress someone up in toilet roll. We also like to get dressed up as skeletons, witches, vampires, mummies and Frankenstein
  • Make a scary room
  • Hang doughnuts on a string – then take it in turns to try and eat one using only your mouth
  • Put jelly spiders in a witch's cauldron and then have to get them out with your teeth
  • Make bat biscuits and decorate them
  • Pin the hat on the witch

Harvest Festival

We had a great time at Harvest Festival. At our after school club we all brought in food from home, and put it in baskets, then sent it out to people in our local community. We also celebrated Harvest Festival by making a face out of fruit and eating fruit kebabs.

Alphabet challenge
Can you think of a fruit or vegetable that starts with every letter of the alphabet? See if you can complete this one:

Joke corner

Why didn't the skeleton go to the party?
Because he had no-body to go with

What is a mummy's favourite type of music?

Why did the skeleton cross the road?
To go to the body shop
