Calling all kids
Can you design a CD cover?

It's nearly 200 years since the slave trade was banned, and there'll be lots of celebrations in Hull because William Wilberforce, the man who helped ban it, was born here. As part of the Wilberforce 2007 celebrations, the musician Paul Field has written a musical called Cargo, which is all about the struggle to end the slave trade.
This month's competition is to design the cover for the CD. The best entries will be displayed at Hull City Hall on March 31 next year, where the musical will be performed. The winning entry may also be used as the final CD cover.
(You can read more about the slave trade and the Wilberforce 2007 events on page 13 - and that might give you some ideas for your design.)

How To Enter

Please submit your entry on A4-size paper, together with your name, address, age and telephone number, to 'Cargo Competition', Hull Children's Fund, Municipal Buildings, Trippett Street, Hull HU2 8AA.
The closing date for sending in your pictures is October 27th, 2006.

Dinostar Competition

This month we have an extra competition - just draw or paint a picture of a dinosaur. The winning picture will be printed in November's edition of Hull in print and the winner will receive an annual family pass to the Dinostar museum on Humber Street, allowing two adults and two children free entry into the attraction as many times as they like throughout the year.
To enter please follow the instructions above - but send your entries to "Dinostar Competition."

Top Tips for Moving Schools

This month, many of you will be starting at new schools. Here's some of the advice we got from primary school children in Hull:

Just be yourself
Stay calm
If you get lost - ask someone
Try and make new friends
Others will feel the same as you do
Chill
Enjoy yourself
Teachers aren't scary
Think happy thoughts
