Eco home of the future
Step inside the home of the future which can save hundreds of pounds a year on bills while helping to cut emissions.
With a high-efficiency boiler, low energy lighting, draught proofing, and insulated roof, walls and floor, the house uses the minimum of electricity and gas.
It's also designed so rainwater falling on the roof is collected and stored to use for watering the garden when the city is going through a dry spell.
The eco-friendly show home is now ready for viewing at the Sutton Way development, off Ings Road.
There are 32 similar homes - from two to four-bedroom - being built as part of the £pound;200 million Gateway scheme, which aims to boost the Hull housing market.
"With the current rising cost of fuel bills, people are likely to be more and more interested in these types of homes," says Chris Hilton, development director for Gateway.
"These features will be common in homes of the future because we need to protect the planet by cutting carbon emissions."
The builders have used timber from renewable forests in the house, which also has a cycle storage area and restrictors on taps.
The three and four-bedroom homes start at a price of £pound;124,950.
The show home can be viewed by appointment with Larards on 787555.
