Hull celebrates Freedom
Hull's city centre comes alive with free entertainment on the biggest weekend of the year

Freedom, Hull's annual live arts and music festival, takes place at venues across Hull city centre on the weekend of 11-13 September.
This year the festival incorporates the start of the Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race, and with a programme including music, dance, theatre, fireworks, children's entertainment, fire sculpture and art, it promises to be a spectacular weekend.
What's on when?
Fruit Market area (Humber Street, Queen Street, Nelson Street, Pier Street)
Carabosse Fire Installation
7.30pm - midnight
A spectacular fire installation will transform the Fruit Market area of Hull into a breathtaking hub of light, music and art.
A preview of the installation will also be held on the evening of Thursday 10 September from 9.00pm - midnight. See also Saturday's programme.
Queen's Gardens
Open 12noon-10pm
Freedom Main Stage
12.30 – 5pm
A range of alternative, indie and R&B acts, including The Paddingtons, The King Blues and Chipmunk.
5.30 – 9.30pm
Pop acts including Pixie Lott, JLS and Peter Andre.
Freedom Second Stage
12.30 – 8pm
Alternative music, dance and entertainment from sizzling salsa and jazz to reggae and rap.
Children's Tipi Village
12noon – 6pm
Puppet shows and storytelling to face painting and arts and crafts.
Queen Victoria Square
7.30 – 10.30pm
The 'Last Night of the Proms' broadcast live by the BBC on the Big Screen.
Hull Marina
The Marina Stage
11am – 10pm
Entertainment from pop and R&B artists.
The Boatshed
2.30pm – 8pm
Jazz in the Boatshed, including the Ruby Turner band at 6pm.
Clipper 09-10
During the day, nine of the Clipper boats will move from the Marina to their Albert Dock berthing point ready for the Sunday start.

Carabosse Fire Installation
7.30pm - midnight
Hull Waterfront
One of Hull's biggest firework displays, commencing at approximately 10.15pm for 15 minutes. Launch points are Holy Trinity Church, the Tidal Barrier and a barge on the Humber.
Queen's Gardens
Open 11am – 9pm
Freedom Main Stage
12noon – 5pm
BBC Raw Talent, showcasing the very best in new talent from Hull and across the country.
5.30 – 9.00pm
Headline act Florence and the Machine, preceded by a mix of sets from singer-songwriters and bands including the critically acclaimed Patrick Wolf.
Freedom Second Stage
11.15am – 7.30pm
Alternative music, dance and entertainment from sizzling salsa and jazz to reggae and rap.
Children's Tipi Village
11am – 6pm

The Boatshed
2.30pm – 8pm
Jazz in the Boatshed, including the Ruby Turner band at 6pm.
Clipper 09-10
Sunday will also feature entertainment on the Marina Stage from 10am, incorporating a fly past by the Red Arrows at 11.30am, the Band of the Royal Marines and a farewell to the Clipper crews.
