Events
Freedom Festival and Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race

Freedom is a live arts and music event to celebrate freedom in all its forms. There will be performances of chart-topping music including Florence and the Machine, Pixie Lott, JLS and Peter Andre. These acts will appear on September 12 between 11am - 10pm in Queen's Gardens, plus there will be dance displays, international art installations, fireworks and more.
Other events during Freedom include:
Jazz in the Marina Boatshed, between 2.30 - 8pm on Saturday and 2.30 - 6pm on Sunday.
Last Night of the Proms will be shown on the Big Screen, Queen Victoria Square, on Saturday between 7 - 10.30pm
Sculpture and fire art by French entertainers Carabosse, as well as DJs and graffiti art, takes place in the Fruit Market on Friday and Saturday evening, 7.30pm -12midnight
Clipper 09-10
Humber Quays
Meanwhile, throughout both days more than 400 yachtsmen and women will embark from Hull on the challenge of a lifetime over 10 months in a 35,000-mile race around the world.
On Saturday, nine of the Clipper yachts will move from the Marina to their Albert Dock berthing point ready for the Sunday start.
Also on Sunday, there will be entertainment by the Band of the Royal Marines at the entrance of Hull Marina from 11.45am - 12.15pm, a fly past by the Red Arrows at 11.30am, a fleet of naval vessels, tugs, and boats on the Humber at 1pm, and the start of the race with the firing of a cannon at 2pm.
