Farewell to Hull in print
Hull in print magazine is coming to an end, however residents can get the same information and more on the council website
This is the last issue of Hull in print after a decision was taken to cease production as a way of helping the council to meet savings targets of £65 million.
However the good news is that you can still get all the same information and more on the council's website.
Web is the way forward
Whether you want to book tickets for Hull New Theatre, find out how to contact your local councillor, or read the latest council news, you can get it at www.hullcc.gov.uk
You can also do a whole range of things such as renew your library books, book a sports facility at a leisure centre, find out your bin collection dates, apply for council housing, find out scores on the doors ratings or get trading standards advice.
"We're redesigning the homepage to make it even easier to find information and carry out top tasks," says media relations manager Nick Schimmel.
"And we hope that more and more people will continue to use this fantastic resource.
Even if you don't have internet access at home you can go online at any of our libraries or customer service centres."
Star service
What's more, the Hull City Council website is now in the top 31 per cent of local authority websites across the country when it comes to usefulness and usability.
That's because its rating has risen this year from two to three stars (out of a possible four), as awarded by the Society of Information Technology Management (Socitm), which is the professional association for public sector information technology in the UK.
Hull City Council is one of 131 out of 433 councils assessed to achieve a three-star rating.
